Marta: This movie is bigger, and all of Mama Rosa’s kids have great comedic moments. Don’t lose hope!! Without spoiling anything, how is Shazam 2 going to top the first one? Why should people head to the theaters and see it?
There are incredible mothers out there ready to bring true love in a found family. Marta: I hope if any kid sees this movie and if they do not come from a supportive family background, or a broken home, or is about to age out of the foster care system… just know there are true superheroes in real life like Mama Rosa. But we were able to make a beautiful movie during challenging times, and I am very proud of that!! Is there anything you hope the audience takes away from watching Shazam 2? Marta: We filmed during COVID times so that was not the easiest. I love everyone so much and I was just so happy to be together on this adventure. Marta: My favorite part of filming this movie was being reunited with all my kids, Zac and Cooper again. What was your favorite part of filming the sequel? We see his struggle with this in the sequel. Billy is about to grow out of the foster care system, which is terrifying him, I think. There’s a huge theme of found family within Shazam, does this continue with the sequel? She loves unconditionally and without judgment. Marta: Mama Rosa has a huge heart filled with love for everyone. She is kind of the core of the group, why do the kids gravitate toward her? I had a pretty spot on inspiration right in my own family. I modeled it after my mom who is the OG Mama Rosa, also known as the child whisperer. Are you like Mama Rosa at all? Was it easy getting back into character? But it is also quite hilarious seeing her reactions to the situations that the Shazamily has to confront. Marta: Mama Rosa finds out her kids are superheroes… so imagine having to deal with that !! She has to worry so much more for everyone. I love it! In terms of Mama Rosa, what can we expect from her in this sequel? Marta: Our sequel is bigger, funnier and more spectacular, but the heart of the family is still there. Can you tell us a bit more about what we can expect from the sequel? It’s an incredible moment between my character and young Billy. Marta: I called our writer and thanked him for gifting me the most beautiful scene in the whole movie.
